SPRING 2024
BAHAMA VILLAGE NEWSLETTER
REPORT ON LANDSCAPING
Hopefully, Spring has arrived after last weekend’s torrential rains. Fortunately, we have not had to use very much water for irrigation up to now. The landscaping is beginning to get some color and new growth, especially the newly landscaped greenway along Catspaw Cape, with new low voltage lighting, designed to focus light downward and not the night sky. The landscape committee is continuing to work on the village entrance with more color, plant variety and less lawn.
The architectural committee has been working on a plan to notify homeowners months ahead of time when their homes will be painted, which will give residents time to make necessary repairs before the painters arrive. This should result in a more finished look for our village. We are asking homeowners to contact the CCHOA Administrative Assistant Brinna Guido at 619-423-4353 to schedule a pre-painting inspection. Inspection dates are May 1st or May 15th. Please call and schedule your inspection no later than April 18th. The inspection will look for wood rot, termite damage, rusting metal, and stucco deterioration. The cost of the inspection will be $200. The cost of any repairs will be paid to the contractor directly by the owner. The below listed homes are scheduled for a trim cycle (wood & metal) painting between July- December 2024. Final dates will be determined after contractor selection by the Board of Directors.
Bahama Bend #14,20,46
Catspaw Cape #2,8,10,12,17,18,19,27,28,33,37,39,41,49,51,57,59,63,67

CLUBHOUSE
The clubhouse now has a wide screen television mounted in the side room which can be used by residents to watch games and other events as well as any presentations by various guests and speakers. The TV was donated for village use by Bahama Village Docks, Inc. For access to the TV control, please contact BVD at 619-423-4657 or drop an email to BVDocks@gmail.com. The TV has an hdmi connection and will broadcast live TV in addition to access to the internet. WORK ON THE DOCKS
The folks at Bahama Village Docks asked me to post this for you:
“As you probably know, the docks that frame our neighborhood are there for all residents of Bahama Village to use. We would like to thank all our neighbors for their patience during construction, especially while driving piles during the period 25 March to 10 April. The construction work will last until early June then continue in September for another couple of months. During this time, the docks are partitioned by caution tape. Our ring cameras have recorded instance of young people tearing down the caution tape and an instance of some vandalism. The docks are not safe while under construction. Please help us maintain the safety of all and stay clear of the construction areas.”
BAHAMA VILLAGE POOL
The pool temperature will be raised from 78 to 83 degrees at the end of March to coincide with spring break and the increased number of users, especially visiting grandchildren. I am researching the possibility of converting our current chlorinated pool to salt water, perhaps later this spring. In my research and discussions with pool companies, saltwater is much cheaper to maintain since there is no need to add expensive Chlorine, which a year ago was difficult to secure. In addition, saltwater pools are easier on the skin, eyes, hair, and bathing suits. The cost to convert over to a saltwater pool is approximately $3,700.00. Currently, Jamaica village is converting their pool to saltwater, so we’ll have an opportunity to evaluate the process and their satisfaction with the change before we move forward.
SECURITY
Several residents have reported over the last few months suspicious activity in the neighborhood and along the docks. I’ve had conversations with the police department and our Safety Patrol concerning this matter and they have agreed to attend our next village townhall meeting to discuss how we can work together to increase awareness and surveillance in our neighborhood (an informal Neighborhood Watch Association).
VILLAGE MEETING
The next village meeting will take place at the Bahama Village Clubhouse on Saturday, April 13th at 10 am. Coffee and snacks will be available. The social, landscape and architectural committees will be giving reports.
Hope to see you at the Town Hall
10 AM, Saturday, 13 April, 2024
Warm Regards,
Gary Davidson
