BAHAMA VILLAGE NEWSLETTER
AUTUMN 2023

REPORT ON LANDSCAPING
This has been a very busy year for Bahama Village and the Cays in general. The Cays entrance is almost finished except to finish tiling the benches. The Kiosk will be painted the new Cays White to match the back entry wall and the trim will be painted to match the new trellises along the back wall. The City of Coronado has replaced the plants in the Coronado Cays median divider with plants that will add more color and hopefully will be resilient to the harsh marine environment.

Last fall, four new arbutus trees were planted to replace the Coral trees that were removed over 5 years ago because of the danger of falling limbs. The landscaping on both sides of Bahama Village entry walls has been refreshed with new plantings.

The landscaping at the front entrance to the clubhouse has been enhanced and seems to be thriving. We are looking at additional plants to complement the white roses along the clubhouse entry sidewalk.

The greenway between 67 and 69 Catspaw Cape has finally been completed. We will be looking at the other Greenways along Catspaw Cape in the future, to do something similar to make the landscaping more interesting, up to date and waterwise.

FUTURE OF CORONADO CAYS PARK
The City of Coronado has held several meetings concerning the future of Cays Park. Meetings and presentations have been held at the Cays Yacht Club, Cays Park and at the Coronado public library displaying the various scenarios for the future design of the park. Because of our location, Bahama village residents are one of the villages most affected by the park. Some of the concerns are parking, especially during soccer games and tournaments, noise, and possible obstruction of ocean views by new tree plantings.

HALLOWEEN PARTY
The privately-organized annual Halloween party will once again be taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 31 beginning at 5 pm. Proceeds from the sale of food items will go to the freshmen class at Coronado High School. The organizers have already secured a permit and insurance for the event.

VILLAGE MEETING
The next village meeting will take place at the Bahama Village Clubhouse on Saturday, Oct. 28th at 10 am. Coffee and snacks will be available. The social, landscape and architectural committees will be giving reports. We will be selecting a date for our annual Bahama/Antigua holiday party which has not been held for 3 years due to the Covid pandemic. Let’s hope for a healthy year!

Hope to see you at the Town Hall
10 AM, Saturday, 28 October 2023
Warm Regards,
Gary Davidson, Bahama Village Director
