Dear Coronado Cays Homeowners:
Latest update on the Cottages at the Cays is that the developer requested a 30-day delay for his presentation to the Port Commissioners and it was granted. The item is no longer on the January agenda and has been moved to the February 14, 2023 agenda. The reason for the request is not specified but I believe the developer is trying to gain support from nearby leaseholders after the City of Coronado submitted their letter to the Port opposing the project. A copy of the City’s letter of opposition is posted on the CCHOA website under Announcements.
Our next and most important opportunity to express our opposition will be in front of the Board of Port Commissioners on February 14th. A template letter is attached for your use in expressing your opposition along with talking points if you want to create your own letter or modify a previously submitted letter. Many of the previous letters were sent in August 2022, so I recommend a new letter to make sure it is fresh in the minds of the Port Commissioners. Please copy the CCHOA at admin@cchoa.org.

In-person attendance at the February Port Commissioner’s meeting will be very important. Please send an email to admin@cchoa.org if you plan to attend in person. Also, note if you are available to drive others to the meeting. Plan is to meet here at 11:45am on the 14th and drive over to the Port’s Don L. Nay Administration Building, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101.
We continue to collect signatures on our petitions and have 869 so far! If you have not already signed or know others that want to sign, please have them express their opposition to the Cottages and in support of a future park by signing either the online petition at https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/cottages-at-the-cays or the hardcopy petition at the CCHOA Office. Please sign only one petition.
We are in the final quarter of the fight and need to ramp up our game while keeping an eye on the endzone!
Thank you,
CCHOA Management
