Dear Bahama Village Homeowners,

In August, Bahama village Director, Gary Davidson, completed his two-year term. Gary did an excellent job during his term as Director. Some of his major project completions included the newly established common area between 67-69 Catspaw, adding four new Arbutus trees to the front entrance of Bahama Village, and establishing a greater sense of community within our village.

As the new Village Director, I was elected for a two-year term to replace Gary. I have been living in Bahama Village since September 2022 and look forward to continuing to keep our village looking beautiful and safe. I look forward to working with the HOA and Safety to keep our village up to current codes and educating our owners on any new or current HOA rules and regulations. As a member of the CCHOA Board, I will work to deliver excellent member service and value through exceptional management and prudent use of community assets to enhance our waterfront lifestyle, property values, and sense of community.

I look forward to getting to know each and every resident of Bahama Village. Since many of our homeowners live away from our village for part of the year, please introduce yourself when you are in town. I hope to make our village more socially engaging and continue many of the wonderful practices such as holiday and Superbowl parties in our clubhouse.  plan to form more village committees, including a social committee, to make greater use            of our clubhouse. I’m very receptive to hear your ideas on how we can make Bahama Village a better place for everyone in our community.

Best Wishes to Everyone, Dianne Fishel.

BOOHAMA VILLAGE

It’s that time of year again when ghosts and goblins, large spooky skeletons and black spiders and their silky webs appear across lawns and on top of homes in our village. This year, we will carry on the tradition on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31 from 5-8 P.M. An area will be marked off on Bahama Bend for the photo booth, food and drinks. There will be food and drinks, live music and a photo booth and Trick or Treating for all ages! To make a donation or ask any questions about the event or helping to volunteer, please contact Jessica Kelly at 808-745-3992.

BAHAMA VILLAGE DOCKS

The Bahama Village Docks team has made substantial progress on replacing the 50-year-old docks with new docks and gangways. Docks and gangways along the East Docks of Catspaw Cape have already been replaced and are fully operational. As you can tell from the  sound of pilings being driven, the docks on the north side are in process. The new gangways and docks now fit within industry standard for safety and look great.

Bellingham Marine says the work on the docks will be completed by 15 November, and the gangway replacement on the north side is scheduled to be completed a month later.

LANDSCAPING

In June, a new succulent garden was planted on the corner of the Catspaw-The Inlet by the HOA Landscape Contractor, Crossman Landscape. Many of the adjacent neighbors complained about the tiny plants used in the garden and voiced their desires for more colorful larger plants.

When I was the Landscape Chairman, I redesigned the garden, and rearranged the plants to bring more color to the front of the garden and accentuate the riverbed with small black rocks. A work order has been approved for Crossman Landscaping to add an additional 11 larger plants in the back of the garden consisting of firesticks, bulbine, and sea lavender.

On another topic, the HOA and I have heard your comments about the need for greater weeding and have addressed this with Crossman Landscaping. Crossman will be mowing shorter and shorter over the next few weeks in preparation of adding grass seed later this month.

CAYS PARK

The Coronado City Manager, Tina Friend, has received a number of complaints about off leash dogs in Cays Park. The city will be refreshing and updating park signage. If you have a dog, please clean up after your pets, don’t allow them in the common area flower beds, and put their waste in your garbage bins, not those of a neighbor.

Work on the North Cays Park Playground renovation plan is underway for a “like-for-like” replacement. A contract was presented for this at the Oct. 15th City Council meeting for approval and a public forum was held at the park on October 16th.

VILLAGE TOWN HALL MEETING

The next town hall meeting will be held on January 11, 2025. I’ll send details by the end of the year. My husband, Michael, and I will be out of the country in November and December. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email at DirBahama@CCHOA.org. I will be checking this email regularly.

Warm regards,

Dianne Fishel DirBahama@CCHOA.org
