Dear Coronado Cays Homeowners and Residents, Love is in the air, and so is a bit of much-needed rain! As we welcome February, we hope you’re enjoying the cozy vibes of Valentine’s Day and taking time to appreciate friends, family, and neighbors. President’s Day also gives us a great excuse for a long weekend—whether you’re relaxing at home or exploring somewhere new. While the rain has been sporadic this year, every drop counts, and we remain hopeful for more to help with the ongoing challenges from the California wildfires and drought. Speaking of community, let’s continue to look out for one another, especially during these unpredictable weather patterns. Whether it’s checking in on a neighbor, clearing storm drains, or simply sharing a friendly smile, small acts of kindness make a big difference. Let’s have a fantastic February filled with love, appreciation, and (hopefully) a little more rain! Volunteer Opportunities: We had to reschedule our Volunteer Opportunities meeting. We will be hosting a meeting to talk about opportunities to be involved as an HOA Volunteer, February 25th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Interested? Please RSVP via email to assistantmanager@cchoa.org . Power Outage: There will be a planned SDGE outage that will affect all villages in the Cays from Monday, February 10th at 11:00 pm thru Tuesday, February 11th at 5:30 am. Please set your back-up alarm that night! Affected owners should be individually notified by SDGE. Who to contact at the HOA Office: • Nancy can help you with work orders and your Clubhouse needs. She can be reached at memberservices@cchoa.org • Brianna and Kathie can help with your payment and account questions. Brianna is at admin@cchoa.org and Kathie is at kkaiwi@cchoa.org. • Donna and Renée are available to help you navigate the Architecture and Administrative Approval world. Donna is at OfficeAssistant@cchoa.org and Renée is at codeenforcement@cchoa.org The Point Pump Station Repair: The City of Coronado is working on The Point Pump Station for the next 4 months. This pump station is on the corner of The Point and Admiralty Cross. The work includes installing a new sewage pump, new pipe work, new meter pedestal, new control panel, rehabilitation of the wet well and manholes and replacement of the hatches. Nice to get some fresh equipment for our civic infrastructure. Update from the City of Coronado: The January 24th City Manager’s Update talked about proactively preparing for winter storm events and filling the City Council Vacancy (Welcome Kelly Purvis). Additionally, there is Free Mulch available for pick up at the Cays Park Parking Lot across from the Fire Station (available while it lasts). The City has begun work on the Slurry Seal project, which includes slurry sealing and restriping a portion of the Bayshore Bikeway from Fiddler’s Cove to the Imperial Beach boundary. Landscape Maintenance: We received a little bit of rain, which raised our season-to-date rain total at San Diego International Airport to 0.35”, which is 7% of normal. Because of the dry winter we are using more irrigation water than we usually do this time of year. Because of the premium on water, the landscape crew has been vigilant in fixing leaking sprinklers, lateral lines, and control valves. Please help us out and report sprinklers that are spraying the sidewalk, or visibly leaking where they shouldn’t be. We all need to do our part to conserve our precious water. We trimmed palm trees in Jamaica the week of January 27th and Port Royale deciduous trees the week of January 13. Additionally, we laced a portion of the trees in the Jamaica malls. Coming up, we have Common Area Fan Palms and Queen Palms to be trimmed the last week of February. Maintenance Projects: Completed projects since my last newsletter include: • Antigua: Completed the front entrance pergola refurbishment, painted all electrical transformers/pedestals, replaced all garage hose bibs, ground light refurbishment, landing waterproofing (various addresses), cleat and gangway repairs (ongoing) • Kingston: Replaced all broken trash enclosure post caps, replaced all broken electrical pedestal outlet covers (docks), ground light replacement (central plaza), gangway decking repairs. Termite abatement continues in Kingston. • Admin Building: Pre-lease refurbishment of office space, men’s restroom exhaust fan repaired, damaged carpet tiles repaired in the Grand Caribe Room, continued replacement of decorative tiles on Grand Caribe Causeway. • Montego: Montego water meter tagging, repair automated pedestrian gate (work is ongoing). Carport rebuild continues (Phases 1 and 2) • Mardi Gras: Fire hydrant repairs, water meter valve replacement at 8 SCC • Port Royale: Powder coat two parcel / mailbox pedestal, reinstall and paint boxes • The City will be working on a sidewalk repair in Green Turtle this month. Code Enforcement Reminders: Waterfront Town Homes – please keep landscape sufficiently clear within 10 of the bulkhead. Anything overhanging the seawall needs to be trimmed back within your property line. Pet Care – Doggie stations have bags for your convenience. Please pick up what your dog leaves behind. Dogs are required to be on leash and under control at all times to prevent injury to others. The dog run at Coronado Cays Park is the only designated area for dogs to be off-leash in the Cays.
