FICUS BENJAMINA

This houseplant is the same tree that, once planted in the ground, can seriously damage the foundation of your home.

INVASIVE TREE ROOTS
Coronado has been in the process of retrofitting the storm drains. While working on one of the drains in Jamaica Village a large ficus benjamina root interfered with progress. The root was from a tree that had been cut down several years ago, but the stump was never removed. While in the process of removing the stump and root system, our Landscaping crew found four additional ficus stumps in the same area that had to be removed.

Ficus trees have an aggressive root system that can cause serious damage to architectural footings, sidewalks, retaining walls and plumbing. The Association recommends that you not plant ficus trees on  your property and seriously consider removing those you already have. It could save you thousands of dollars in damage repair on your property or your neighbor's property.

EXUMA EXCHANGE

HELP YOURSELF TO ANY BOOKS OR VIDEOS

Homeowners and residents of CCHOA may now take, remove and use books and videos for their own personal use. These same or any other homeowners and residents may contribute and deposit books and videos for which they have no further use at the Exuma Exchange. There is no library accounting or time limits and materials can be kept or returned at users’ pleasure.

The Exuma Exchange is located at the CCHOA building in the Grand Caribe Room under the staircase along the south wall. The Grand Caribe Room is open during regular working hours; tables and chairs are set-up near the bookcases.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE – TAKE IT.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DEPOSIT TO WITHDRAW.

If you have any books or videos that you are finished with and think that a neighbor might enjoy, leave them here.

The Exuma Exchange is not a library or ready room and it is all self serve.

Please help yourself, keep it neat and enjoy.

The Title Exuma Exchange is in keeping with the Caribbean theme. Many consider the Exuma Cays to be the most beautiful chain of islands in the Bahamas. This remote virgin territory is accessible only by boat. Also, Exuma is the only name of a cay that forms an alliteration with exchange.

PET ALERT

Cocoa Mulch, which is readily available at various garden centers, contains theobromine and caffeine in levels that are toxic to our pets, even in very small amounts. It is attractive to pets because it smells like chocolate. Symptoms range from vomiting and diarrhea to seizures and even death. For more information visit Snopes.com.
