Announcements

The Recreation Department does receive a schedule of events from the soccer club, indicating practice times, games, and tournamentsand other special events.  We do not have a number of participants indicated for the events, but can usually make an educated guess if the activity is a tournament or special set of games.  In January, the club hosted several State Cupgames at specific age group levels, which would have brought in more spectators than ordinary league games or practices, but not as many as a “tournament”.  There have not been requests for tournaments beyond the two large events traditionally held at the end of July and in December.  There is a request for a summer camp to be held in June that is expected to have 100 or more attendees.

I have begun listing the soccer special events in the City Manager’s Weekly Update that is posted on the City Website each Friday.  This may help to give you a heads up about special events held at the Cays Park.

I have been working closelywith the soccer club to make them aware of concerns from Cays residents.  I believe the club will be responsive, and I know that the club highly values the use of the Cays Park fields.  Please let me know if I can do more to answer your questions and to communicate with the Coronado Youth Soccer League boardmembers and coaches.
